ABOUT
Bush Toys

OYAF is proud to present its latest collaborative venture, bringing together Orange City Council’s ‘Designing Futures’ program and Lanni McKenzie, Orange based Basket Weaver and Fibre Artist. The project sees young Aboriginal girls partake in a series of creative workshops exploring the use of traditional Aboriginal weaving techniques. The young participants will learn how to apply their learnt weaving skills in making bush toys in the form of Australian native animals which will go on public display.

Orange City Council's 'Designing Futures' program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children. The aim of the program is to build resilience in Aboriginal children and young people as they engage in a range of out of school and vacation activity programs. The Designing Futures program is aimed at building connections between indigenous families and a range of local services.
